I'm using GetResponse.

WP Affiliate plugin is a WordPress plugin so it can only be used with a WordPress site (just like any other WordPress plugin). It will not work on a standalone HTML page.

WordPress plugins do not work outside of WordPress. Can you use your Akismet plugin from one install to block spams on another WordPress install? No. The plugin only works in the same WordPress install where the plugin is also installed.

Don't use plain HTML pages (the days of using plain HTML pages are over). You are using WordPress for a reason and WordPress has a superior method of creating sales/landing pages. Its called "Custom page template". This following article will explain more:

http://www.tipsandtricks-hq.com/how-to-create-and-use-custom-page-template-in-wordpress-to-create-a-sales-page-2095

Here is a video tutorial showing how to create a custom WordPress page template:
http://www.tipsandtricks-hq.com/how-to-create-a-custom-wordpress-page-template-video-tutorial-3918

Essentially it will be just like your stand alone sales page but it will be part of your WordPress installation so WordPress will be able to execute plugin codes in this page. When you create sales pages using the above method in WordPress all the plugins that are installed in this WordPress will be able to work on that sales page (for example: tracking your Google Analytics) and the affiliate plugin will automatically work.

If you just create a stand alone HTML page (sale-page.html) and keep it somewhere on your site, the WordPress system does not know its existence and WordPress plugins can't perform tasks on resources that is not part of WordPress.

I really like the plugin and its smooth integration with wp_estore.

One question: how can I get nicer URLs that hide the reflink a little bit?

I want something like:
before: http://www.website.com/?ap_id=somebody
after: http://www.website.com/x0F27Gh

or something like that

I would love to have this included somehow in an update.

I know my way around PHP so if you have a quick hack to include this, let me know.

This is used on several websites I know so I think your users would definitely profit from this.

When You Might Need This?

Say for example you have a video on an external site where you want your affiliates to send the traffic. After the visitor watch the video he/she can come to your site and make a purchase.

Since the affiliate sent the traffic to an external site the affiliate plugin has no way of tracking the cookie to determine who sent the visitor. To get around this issue you can create pass thru affiliate link.

Creating Pass Thru Links

Pass thru links are links that point to your site but automatically redirects the user to the target page after it sets the cookie and tracks the click on your domain. WP Affiliate Platfrom allows you to do this. So for example your external video page is at the following URL:

http://www.example.com/myvideo

so a pass thru link will be like the following:

http://www.your-domain.com/wp-content/plugins/wp-affiliate-platform/api/redirect.php?url=http://www.example.com/myvideo&ap_id=tips21

This will track the click for the affiliate whose ID id "tips21" then redirect the user to the "www.example.com/myvideo" page. If the visitor then comes back to your site later and makes a purchase the commission will be awarded to the affiliate whose ID is "tips21" as the cookie is already set.

You can ofcourse use a TinyURL or link shortener service to make the pass through link look short and clean.

You can customize any text or message displayed to your visitors using the following method:
http://www.tipsandtricks-hq.com/forum/topic/how-to-customize-various-textmessages-displayed-by-the-plugin

Remove a Particular Form Field

1. If you are using the on page affiliate view option
-----------------------------------------------------
Open the "register_view.php" file from the "view" directory of the affiliate plugin and customize it however you like.

For example, If you want to remove the "Fax" field from the affiliate signup page then find the following block of code and remove it:

<tr>

When you hit this situation (clicks are tracking but not the sales) we need to know the following details before we can do any kind of troubleshooting:

1. A link to your landing page in question
2. What are you using to handle the eCommerce site of things (Plain PayPal button or eStore plugin or any other plugin?)
3. Which integration you are using (simply link to the integration documentation that you have followed from our site)

Why do we need the above information? The affiliate sale tracking is dependent on the eCommerce system (that you are using) notifying the affiliate plugin after a sale. When a sale is not being tracked it means something in the integration is going wrong. If we don't even have details on what integration you are using then we cannot troubleshoot the problem.

Does the affiliate need to have a paypal account to get the mass pay thing to work?

If so, how do you get the affiliate to set up a paypal account if they don't have one?

Does paypal send out checks to people who don't have a paypal account?

What happens when you get an affiliate that does not have a paypal account? How do they get paid with the mass payment method? If they don't get paid, how do those affiliates get paid and how can you tell which affiliates did not get paid during the mass paypal payment method?

amin007 on "How to Handle Affiliate Commission for Manual Checkout in WP eStore"

Manual checkout is treated differently as it is not fully automated (You have to handle the payment from the customer manually). There are two ways to handle the affiliate commission from a manual checkout:

1) You award the commission after you get the money from the customer.
2) You award the commission as soon as the order is submitted but reverse the commission later if the customer does not make the payment.

Option 1) Everytime a customer submits the manual checkout order form the order summary email that gets sent out to the admin will contain a field called "Referrer" which will hold the affiliate ID of the affiliate who referred that customer. If no one referred that customer then that filed will be empty. After the customer transfers the money to your bank account you can go to the "Sales/Comm Data" Menu of the affiliate plugin and award the commission manually to the affiliate who referred that sale (you have the affiliate ID of the referrer from the order summary email).

Option 2) The other option is to check the "Automatically Award Affiliate Commission" field in the "Manual Checkout" settings section of the WP eStore plugin so as soon as the customer submits the order the commission will be given to the appropriate affiliate. If later the money does not come through from the customer you can go to the "Sales/Comm Data" menu of the affiliate plugin and reverse that commissiong. To reverse a commission you can simply delete the original commission or add in a negative commission of the same amount to the same affiliate.
