Sorry if I've missed the answer to this in the documentation...I've been known to do that once in a while ;-).
My question has to do with the Digital Content Details of a product when I'm using the NextGen Gallery to show the product.
In the "Digital Product URL" section, do I input the address from NextGen Gallery or do I (or maybe Should I) create a separate file for each product, away from the gallery?
Thanks in advance for any help I can get with this.

Hi Rog, it is really up to you... the URL of the file that you enter will be delivered to the customer upon purchase.
Digital images can be easily copied from the browser so this is what I do...
1) resize the images I display using the NextGen Gallery to a smaller size.
2) apply watermark to the image using the NextGen Gallery "Effect" option.
This prevents stealing of images from the preview you display on the NextGen Gallery.
I store the real high res watermark free images on a separate location and use them as my deliverable. Once the purchase is complete the encrypted download link for the original image (1920×1200 resolution and no watermark) is emailed to the buyer.

You've confirmed my thoughts and suspicions. I suppose I was just hoping to get around having to create the separate folder and uploading the files twice.

I didnt interpret from this that you had to store 2 versions of the image (which is going to have significant impact on hosting server space)
Or has there been a workaround?

I dont want to be taking the Amazon S3 route at this stage because of the additional cost.......
How do you configure the Next Gen Gallery effects etc to be able to use the files as described in the instructions which I linked to - which doesnt mention having to create two copies of the file and storing in separate locations....or are these instructions misleading?

007 - I understand the point about copying the images which is why you need to double upload - but I will still make the point here that the instruction given in the more visible areas of the site prior to purchase does not mention a double upload/storage.
WZP - I am intending on setting this up once for the long term, so after the 5GB is reached and after a year there are the costs - I dont want to set everything up and then have to go through and change with migration.
Just a little annoyed that the steps are glossed over so it looks relatively easy and I have spent hours yesterday trying to work out how to have a watermarked image which is delivered without the watermark.
Im sure you have a great product here and there are lots of very happy customers who are using the plugin, I just need time now to adjust my approach on how I was going to manage this project.

I have uploaded a few photos and are testing that everything is working before I launch completely into the project.
I am uploading the photos through Next Gen (resizing and watermarking there) and then I am loading them via ftp into a photo directory I have placed under my domain directory.
Last night I was able to download the photos which had been uploaded via Next Gen (even though they had the watermark etc), but now I have made the change of how files are being stored I am getting:
Download file cannot be opened. Please let us know. Thank you!
I have tried changing the addon setting to 'relative' and 'do not convert' but the email link is still not working (I noticed for do no convert it is still changing the URL pathway)
I also tried testing the encryption link in the admin settings and the link generated isnt working either
