I want to create a members only area for customers to view a NextGen album on a page, but I want to secure the images themselves so that they can't be downloaded by anyone but the member group that has access to the page. I plan to create a member level for each customer to ensure that customers can't view each others images.

I've only just bought eMember and eStore so this might be easy and I simply haven't found the necessary article

    Thanks in advance

You simply place a gallery on a page then protect that page so that only members from particular membership level can view that page.

There are video tutorials here that shows you how to protect a page:

    Thanks for the reply Ivy

I've done that, but if the user knows the direct URL for the image, it can still be accessed when they aren't logged in. I want to protect the images as well as the page/gallery.

I've tried uploading the images to the eStore downloads directory and repointing the folder for the NextGen gallery, but I would need to store the images in subfolders and only allow users from a chosen membership level to access them, not just all authenticated members. I've successfully reoriented the album, but I'm having problems with the permissions.

    Thanks

I see what you want. No, just by placing the images in eStore's download folder won't give you any protection. You only get eStore's file protection when the file is downloaded via eStore's encrypted download system. The images that are displayed in the NextGen gallery does not have any kind of protection. This is something you will have to ask the NextGen Gallery developer and see if there is any option. We don't have any control over how the NextGen Gallery renders images.

WP eMember is mainly concerned about protecting the WordPress content (posts, pages, comments etc). It doesn't know or care about any media you have placed on a page. You can add protection for your media files by using eStore and eMember together using the technique explained here:

The above method does not apply to the NextGen Gallery situation you are using.
