Shipping Variation Option - Force update?

Hi,

I'm currently trying to use the Shipping Variation Option to set costs for UK and International orders. At the moment, the dropdown for the Shipping Option appears and there is a message saying: "Please click the update button to finalize your change!".

However, it is still possible to click on the "Checkout" button, without selecting anything from the dropdown.

Would it be possible to use a bit of javascript to disable the Checkout button, to ensure that the Shipping Option dropdown has been updated on the cart?

By default the "First" option will be selected (so if the customer didn't change the selection it would mean that he wanted the first option). Yeah it should be possible to do something similar to what you suggested using JavaScript.

Would it be possible to only show the message saying: "Please click the update button to finalize your change!" if the customer actually changed the Option from the default setting?

If so, how could that be achieved ?

It used to only show that warning when a customer changed the shipping variation but then other users wanted to show the warning regardless (it doesn't hurt to get the customer to confirm his selection once). If you really want I can give you a code tweak which will change the behavior to only show the warning when the the selection value is changed.
