How do I Start a Blog and Make Money Online?

This is a step by step and easy to follow guide that will help you setup your own blog from the start. This guide is not to motivate someone to start blogging. It is best suited for someone who already made the decision to start a blog and needs some step by step direction of the whole process.

This guide is not complete yet. I will be writing and publishing the bits and pieces of how to start a blog from scratch and make money online over the next few months as time permits.

Hi,

I have installed the simple shopping cart on WP MU 2.7 however when going to settings options Update Options I recieve the error :

Error! Options page not found ( I will be gald to bypass the error to add the return URL address

@Aan, Unfortunately WordPress.com doesn’t allow you to add Adsense, Yahoo etc ad blocks to the free WordPress.com blog. More info on the advertising policy of the free WordPress.com blogs can be found at the following URL:

The best way to fix wordpress errors is to copy the error and paste it into Google, usually there will be a help page where another blogger had the same issue and will show you how to fix it.

I think wordpress is the best platform to use for making money online. The plugine for it are great. Personally I use Thesis for all my blogs and love it.

Good article, very detailed and motivational! Getting started with blogging is not always easy, and can take some times before it actually generate passive income…but if you produce quality/original content, and you’re persistent, this is gonna pay off for sure! I’ve been blogging for a couple of years now, and my favorite platform: WordPress of course. I’ve done done tones of WordPress install for myself and clients. I’ve also put together a “wordpress package solution” to help busy and non-techy people get faster with blogging. (the link is http://pressmojo.com if you’re interrested). Anyway, I just want to say that blogging is great to generate a bit of passive income, but also to share and grow a community! It’s a lot of fun and I encourage everyone to try getting into it!

Starting a blog is extremely easy. If you can write an email, you can maintain a blog. It’s really that simple. The blogging software takes care of all of the scary stuff, like writing HTML and publishing your pages to the web. All you need to do is type your content. and what’s even better, blogs can be set up quickly.

You can literally have a blog from one of the many free blogging services up and running in about 10 minutes. If you want to host your own blog, it takes a little longer, but most of that time is spent waiting for domain names to be ready.

Starting a blog was one of the best, and most productive things I have done. If you are on the fence whether to start your own blog… then take the plunge and do it.

Some excellent stuff in here. I think it is worth mentioning the possiblility of using other people to write at least some of your posts on a blog. As you start more blogs it can seem like there are not enough hours in the day to keep writing new content. This is where outsourcing comes in, using a service like textbroker or needanarticle can save you hours and hours and they produce good original articles for just a few dollars each. Well worth considering in my opinion.

It doesn’t cost that much to start a blog… maybe around $30 to $40 to get your domain name and hosting account setup and get your blog going. “How much will it cost to make money? – I don’t have an answer to this question as it really depends on which path you follow to make the money.

I guess there are really no such thing as Get Rich Quick!

This is good because, although the steps you explained need work, they are essential for the growth of the blogger.

Great outline here. Simple and to the point. You’ll see progress for sure if you stick with it, and that’s where most people fall short with their blog. You gotta put in a ton of work if you want to see a return of any kind.
