WordPress Affiliate Platform Plugin – Simple Affiliate Program for WordPress Blog/Site

Categories: Wordpress Plugin

It is a known fact that having an affiliate program is the most powerful way to market your products or services online (Read more on the benefits of affiliate program). If you own a WordPress blog/site and your answer to the following questions are ‘yes’ then the ‘WordPress Affiliate Platform’ might just be what you need:

  1. Do you sell products or services online from your WordPress blog/site?
  2. Do you want to increase your sales and explode your profits by using an affiliate program?
  3. Do you want to have your own affiliate program so you can cut the middle man?

Plugin Summary

The ‘WordPress Affiliate Platform’ is an easy to use WordPress plugin for affiliate recruitment, management and tracking that can be used on any WordPress blog/site. This plugin lets you run your own affiliate campaign/program and allows you to reward(pay commission) your affiliates for referred sales. The admin can upload/configure banners/links which the affiliates can use on their blog/site to drive traffic to your site. All the clicks, leads, sales etc are tracked by this plugin.

If you are running online ad campaigns for your products and services then you can use the affiliate platform plugin to measure the true conversion rate of each campaign to find out the profitable ones. This allows you to weed out the non-profitable campaigns and save money in the process.

Wow, you just don’t stop with the great plugins! Once I get some eBooks ready for sale from my site, I’ll be back here in a flash to buy this one.

  • #2 by Ray on June 29, 2009 - 8:42 pm

Hi, I am very interesting in this product but I don’t use the WP eStore plugin. Can I still use it?

  • #3 by admin on June 29, 2009 - 10:44 pm

@Ray, Yes you can still use it (The WP Affiliate Platform can potentially be used with any WordPress eCommerce solution). Please email me with the details of the eCommerce solution you have on your WordPress site/blog and I will give you instructions on how to integrate this plugin (The integration generally involves adding a little bit of code so the sale can be tracked after someone pays for a product).

    Hi Ruhul,

You have produced a handful of great plugins – well done!

Actually I am interested to buy the eStore and Affiliate pair. However I have a couple of concerns. I need to know if you offer support for them and if yes, how. Also, is it possible to make user register for a wp account while they check out a product with the eStore?

    Looking forward to your answers.

    Thanks

  • #5 by admin on July 4, 2009 - 10:27 am

Hi Banago, Glad to hear that you found some of my plugins useful. Yes, I offer support for them. I offer support in the sense that I make it work for you :) These plugins are very easy to use but if you need help installing them or getting them to work or if you need some tweaks then I will guide you.

When I developed the WP eStore plugin I made sure that it has a simple one click checkout system (I as a customer get annoyed when people make me sign up to buy something but I agree that it has it’s uses). With some slight modification it is possible to make the WP eStore plugin do what you described though (make sure the users are signed up before they can checkout).

Feel free to contact me if you have any other queries.

  • #8 by Jeremy on July 8, 2009 - 8:50 pm

wow…this sounds great…I just bought the other program (store) a couple days ago and did not know about this affiliate one. Had I seen the combo offer, I would have done that. ( I am really liking the store so far )

Any chance you can offer price for the affiliate program and theme combo, since just bought the store?

    Will await your reply…

  • #9 by admin on July 8, 2009 - 9:26 pm

Hi Maxx, The affiliate page gets setup automatically after you install the plugin. You don’t have to do anything special other than just telling your potential affiliates to visit the following URL to signup for an affiliate account:

    http://www.your-domain.com/wp-content/plugins/wp-affiliate-platform/affiliates/

You can customize that default URL if you want. How to customize the URL of the affiliate page is explained in the WordPress Affiliate Platform Documentation site

  • #10 by Maxx on July 8, 2009 - 9:40 pm

Thanx for that. Very much appreciated. Oh…and by the way…this is an excellent plugin.

I just got this because I know your plugins are excellent and it will help me take my site to the next level. It says that the plugin is integrated with the e-store plugin which I have but not using on the site I want to have the affiliate program on…I want to use this on a site running your Simple Shopping Cart, will this work with no problems on the site or do I have to make any changes? Thanks again.

  • #13 by David on July 10, 2009 - 3:37 pm

It seems like when I have one question it always turns into more. Let’s say someone orders today through an affiliate link. Then tomorrow they order again without the affiliate link. Will the affiliate be credited for every order within the cookie time? So if I set up a 365 day cookie can they be paid for every order made since they are already cookied?

  • #14 by admin on July 10, 2009 - 10:31 pm

Hi David, You will need to add a bit of tracking code in the Simple PayPal Shopping Cart to make it work with this one. Give me a few days and I will release an updated version of the PayPal Shopping Cart Plugin.

  • #15 by admin on July 10, 2009 - 10:43 pm

    LOL… I like questions :)

Yes, the affiliate will be credited for every order within the cookie time. This gives the affiliate more incentive to signup for an account and direct traffic.

  • #16 by David on July 11, 2009 - 8:56 am

Ok sounds great. I’ll wait I’m still working on banners and specifics for my affiliate program.

  • #18 by Ron in L..A. on July 17, 2009 - 11:30 pm

I wasn’t able to find any info on link building outside of the admin page. For instance, if an affiliate wanted to link to a specific product of their choosing, can that be easily facilitated? I really don’t want to have to create several hundred links.

    Thanks,

    Ron

  • #19 by admin on July 17, 2009 - 11:44 pm

Hi Ron, I will add more clear instructions on the documentation site on this topic later but basically an affiliate can link to any product just by appending his/her affiliate id at the end of a URL like the following:

    http://www.tipsandtricks-hq.com/some-awesome-product?ap_id=AFFILIATE_ID

so basically the affiliate just needs to append ?ap_id=AFFILIATE_ID at the end of any URL and that will be tracked by the plugin (Replace AFFILIATE_ID with the true id of that affiliate)

This the kind of plugin I was looking for! Thank you!
I was going to press the buy button from within paypal :) To buy the Combo Estore and Affiliate program!

Just thought I would ask a couple of questions first!

1- If for any reasons, it does not work or we are not satisfied with the products, do you offer money back?
2- Any known bugs with wordpress 2.8.2?
3- Are the next versions (updates) of those plugin free for those who have purchased the previous versions?
4- For how long are you planning to develop those plugins?

Sorry for so many question :) I don’t want to waste my time installing, then having to do it all over again because supports or development stop.

    Many thanks!

Looking forward to read your answer soon, so that I can buy and set up!

Hi Yoso, Questions are no problem.. here are my answers:

    1. Yes I offer refunds if it doesn’t work or you are not satisfied but within reasons (I should explain a little bit so you don’t misunderstand me. I am very easy going and don’t really have any strict refund polices but this is a digital product which means once you get it I can’t really take it back so I need to protect myself. I spend a lot of time developing and supporting these products so all I expect is a little honesty and there won’t be any problem with refunds).

    2. Not that I know of (I am using it myself)

    3. yes the updates are free for the existing customers.

    4. As long as WordPress lives and there is demand for it (a very long time I hope :)

  • #23 by yoso tattoo on July 21, 2009 - 9:33 pm

couldn’t wait for feedback to buy it :) So Just bought the combined package.

So far all good, and very easy to install! I have a few suggestions for added functionality I’ll send soon! The affiliate plugin seems to work a treat! Haven’t made any money yet! But have tested it. It’s more simple to install your affiliate plugin than signing up with one of the affiliate giants! And it’s so great to be able tos et up your own term, while remaining ‘informal’. God I have corporate speech.

The e-commerce seems great too! Just testes the simple buy at the moment. All Good! Asked a friend yo order my product! all great! Perfect for digital downloads for sure! A couple of suggestions if you can integrate as soon as you can!

1- ability to duplicate products! Some product are similar, and its a waste of time to have to re-entry all the data.

2- Ability to un-publish a product , but being able to keep it encoded in the database. I.e. I will sell some products I want to take off the public shop when out of stock. Or. simply want to remove the product and add it back later.

3- affiliate plugin. (That’s quite urgent for me) Ability to set the commission per product as opposed to per affiliate. I.e. I can afford to give 50% of sale price for our e-books, but I won’t be able to for rare Japanese Items I want to send online.

    Thank you!

Keep up the good work! Be ahead of the game :) I would hate to see other plugins doing better than yours :) haha :)

@Yoso, glad to hear you like the plugin… thanks for the feedback, I will try to incorporate them in a future release.

Regarding the “Ability to un-publish a product”.. you can specify the number of “Available copies” to zero (0) and that will replace the ‘add to cart’ button with a ‘sould out’ image (this can be customized) until you change the “Available copies” value. Not sure if it would serve the your purpose but thought I would mention it.

  • #25 by yoso tattoo on July 22, 2009 - 1:04 am

I had seen this was possible! Guess it’s kind of ok that way too :)
Thanks for the feedback! As always! By the way, not sure if you got this! Why don’t you create a section where all people who use your platform can promote their sites? and their affiliate programs? :)

  • #26 by admin on July 22, 2009 - 2:44 am

LOL… you read my mind. I have been thinking about creating something like a ‘Marketplace’ where all the people using the e-commerce plugins can promote their sites and stuff. I even have the layout ready… it’s just finding the time to do it. I will eventually implement it and send an email to all the existing customers.

  • #27 by yoso tattoo on July 22, 2009 - 6:22 am

Great! You could even make a cut on it :) Buy being the affiliate :)

    Also! In the admin setting,

I think that’s quite important, is to give the admin the option to make some fields mandatory when a new user signs up! I.e. website address or addresses. Eventually with an authorisation byadmin before the affiliate can promote.

It is good to know from where people are going to promote your stuff!
Even if at the end of the day they can promote through a tweet or what ever else.

Got some people signed up now. Made a search for their e-mail and found some dodgy stuff. getting paranoid if they are hackers or are going to use dodgy techniques to try to sell. That’s not good for our image. So admin should really be able to add mandatory fields if he wished to. And also a standard optional, condition/agreement text box/field that affiliate have to tick as agreed before signing up.

I’m not into the legal stuff myself. It would be up to the person who set up the program to decide how technical they want to get in their agreement. Personally I would keep it quite simple. But still! Clear enough so that they do understand the basic ‘community’ rules.

Thanks as always for your quick feedback :)

LOL… I am currently working on the next release of the WP eStore plugin. I will include this feature on that release. I intend to release it at the end of this month though so you will have to wait for a few more days but i will try to finish it early.

I have bought your WP eStore + WP Affiliate Plugin and installed it on my blog.
    http://www.articlewritingcenter.com

But I’ve got a problem in login into the affiliate account.
    http://www.articlewritingcenter.com/wp-content/plugins/wp-affiliate-platform/affiliates/

When I tried to login by entering username and password, it will redirect to the login page again.
I have tried both ways to access the affiliate page (redirect & copy directory), but still does not make any changes yet.

    Please advice.

    Thank you,

I will keep this in my mind… you can always delete their account if you don’t like someone :)

  • #32 by admin on July 22, 2009 - 9:03 pm

Hi Riva, I had a quick look and looks like your the PHP session variable is not getting passed to the next page. It could be related to the PHP installation of your webhost so you can try asking them if they know how to make PHP session work properly. Let me know how you go.

  • #33 by Riva Sinjal on July 22, 2009 - 9:41 pm

I didn’t contact the webhost support yet, but I tried to move the site to another webhost.
Now the plugin is working :)
    I really like the plugin.

    Thank you for your reply.

    Hi

Will the your newest release in a fews days allow for the set up of non digital product options.

Saw it mentioned somewhere within your blog earlier that you would be incorporating this capability when you could, so that it has the same capability for non digital products options that your free shopping cart version has.

Hope this capability will be in the upgrade, if not when do you think it will be, really need this option capabilty for my needs.

Care to give us all a look at whats new in the forthcoming upgrade, can feel the suspense rising now. LOL.

Keep up the great work on your products.

    Regards

    John

Hi there, setting up a membership site with wishlist member because I want to sell modular e-courses, will the affiliate programme integrate with wishlist member and paypal recurring billing? Will affiliate get credit for recurring sales?

  • #39 by admin on August 2, 2009 - 11:52 pm

Hi Tom, The affiliate program handles the tracking of traffic from all the referrals. awarding the commission is done by the e-commerce plugin (eg. WP eStore) that processes the transaction. This is done after the payment when the plugin does the post payment processing (eg. sending confirmation emails) to make sure you award the affiliate only after a confirmed sale. Normally this is achieved by inserting a small bit of code (which I will provide) into the post payment processing script of your e-commerce plugin (the plugin that processed the payment).

Now the question is.. are you going to use WishList to process the payment or are you using some other e-commerce plugin? Basically, you need to find out where and how (IPN, PDT) this plugin perform it’s post payment processing and I should be able to give you a bit of code that you can insert in that script to award affiliates after a sale has been confirmed.

At the moment I have a customer who uses my WP Affiliate Software and WP eStore plugin and i am trying to integrate it with the WishList Plugin so that the WP eStore does all the payment processing and it communicates with the wishlist plugin to create a member after the WP eStore processed the payment.

  • #40 by Tom Cassidy on August 3, 2009 - 5:30 pm

Cheers for that, I was intending to use wishlist member as it integrates with paypal perfectly and just need to track the affiliate stuff but I’m very happy to use your store program if you’re already working on integrating it. The site is a modular course download site that I am planning to use wishlist member for in order to manage course purchases as membership levels. Seeing as you do the bundle I’ll get them both anyway and you can let me know how to integrate it all!

    Cheers

    Tom

I’ve been asked if I know of a plug-in that would allow the tracking and crediting of referrals and I’m not sure if your plug-in fits. The question revolves around being able to refer someone to a wordpress blog and then simply get credit when they register via WishList Member or SimplePress. The webmaster of the site in question wants to run contests and reward those that make the most referrals that register for access to their forum (the forum is protected behind WishList Member). Any thoughts?

Hi There – so I bought the combined package through paypal and didn’t have to fill in my email address anywhere – so I was wondering how you know where to send the email for the download links?

Do you automatically send it to the email address that’s the paypal login?

Just wondering – the transaction was very smooth and quick!
