Affiliate Link Manager F.A.Q
- Why is this plugin important to the end user (what do they get out of it)?
Please read the Why Use an Affiliate Link Manager article.
- What is the advantage of setting a keyword conversion limit and how do you do this?
If you have a post where the word “AWeber” is present 10 times and you convert all these keywords to your affiliate link then the post will look spammy. This is why you can specify a limit (eg. 2) so only two “AWeber” keywords out of ten will be converted to your affiliate links. You just set the limit in the “Settings” menu of this plugin.
- What is a “nofollow” tag and why is it important?
“nofollow” tags are used for Search Engine Optimization purpose. Some affiliate marketers do not like to pass page rank from their site to the affiliate site so they like to use “nofollow” tags on the affiliate links. This page will explain “nofollow” tags in details:

WP Affiliate Link Manager Minimum Requirements
The WP Affiliate link manager plugin do not require any special requirement other than a recent version of WordPress (it works on WordPress multi-site installs too) but following are some more in-depth details:
- PHP 4.5 or later
- MySQL 4.0 or later
- Have the SEO friendly/pretty permalinks enabled from the “Settings” menu of WordPress (the default permalink will work too but the cloaked URLs do not look very pretty when used with default ugly permalinks)
The following section is for anyone who doesn’t know what SEO friendly permalink is.
What is SEO friendly/Pretty Permalink?
By default WordPress uses dynamic URL Structure which looks a bit robotic because it is not user friendly at all let alone not being SEO friendly. The following is an example of what a default WordPress URL structure looks like

The goal of making the URL structure more friendly is that your users should know before reading the article what it is about by just looking at the URL. The same goal is to be accomplished for Search Engines as well. SEO friendly URL should look like something similar to the following:

How to Use SEO Friendly URL?
You can specify your URL structure from the Permalink Option Page which you can find in your WordPress Admin Panel if you click on the “Settings” Tabs and then go to “Permalinks”. There are many tutorials online that will help you step by step as to how to do this if you need more help with this.
Why Use an Affiliate Link Manager?
Many tasks involved in affiliate marketing are repetitive, most of these tasks can be automated which in turn will save you time. An Affiliate Link Manager can automate many of these repetitive tasks that you may have to do as an affiliate marketer. As the old saying goes “time is money” so saving time allows you to make more money. In this article I have listed some reasons as to why you should consider using an Affiliate Link Cloaker.
Automatic Keyword to Affiliate Link Conversion
This allows you to convert keywords on your site with affiliate links in just a few easy steps. You have complete control over the link placement (e.g. what keyword, how many words per page, color, font and so on). This will save you a lot of time and effort. Also, when you stop being an affiliate for a company you can easily reverse the link conversion operation that you did earlier saving you even more time.
You Can Track Your Link Clicks
As an affiliate marketer it is very important for you to be able to track the link clicks on your site. Here are some of the many benefits to this:
- Track a specific affiliate campaign
- See which products and links are getting the most clicks
- Track your link clicks so you can compare against the data given to you by the merchant
Cloak Your Affiliate Links
Cloaking your Affiliate links is an important tool for affiliate marketers. It will make your external and affiliate links appear to be on your site.
Customizations
Being able to customize you links to fit in with your site is critical. Here are some of the customizations you can make with the WP Affiliate Link Manager.
- Apply Common Customizations – Customize the font color, size, style of all the anchor texts of the cloaked links. You can also apply custom CSS.
- Apply Common Link Attributes – Make all cloaked links open in a new window and add “nofollow” tag to them.
Making Your Links Pretty and Short
As an affiliate marketer you relay on your affiliate links being passed around the web. Making your links short, pretty and user friendly will make it easier to pass around.
Protect Your Income
Raw affiliate links (www.yourdomain.com/index.php?affiliate =1234) can sometimes cost you money as these links are easy to identify as affiliate links (some visitors may not click on these affiliate links when in raw form).
Affiliate marketers are always looking for ways to save time and make more money. Using the WP Affiliate Link Manger Plugin will help you achieve both of these goals.
