Upload the plugin to WordPress.<\/strong> <\/h3>\n\n\n<p>In your WP admin dashboard, go to <strong>Plugins ? Add New<\/strong>, click the <strong>Upload Plugin<\/strong> button at the top, then upload the zip file you downloaded in Step 1.<\/p>\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"step-3-activate-the-plugin\"><strong>Step 3. Activate the plugin<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n<p>Click <strong>Activate<\/strong> through the Plugins menu in WordPress.<\/p>\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"step-4-find-the-estore-menu\"><strong>Step 4. Configure your basic settings<\/strong> <\/h3>\n\n\n<p>Go to the <strong>Settings<\/strong> menu and review the general, email, and digital product delivery options.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Most of the default settings are fine to get you started, you only need to customize a few things.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Important:<\/strong> Change the <strong>Random Code<\/strong> field to something hard to guess (this helps secure your downloads).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"step-5a-set-up-your-checkout-recommended\"><strong>Step 5a. Set up your checkout (recommended)<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n<p><strong>Recommended:<\/strong> Use the <strong>PayPal Commerce Platform (PPCP)<\/strong> checkout. This is PayPal&#8217;s newer, recommended solution. It gives your customers a smoother experience and lets them pay with credit\/debit cards as well as PayPal &#8211; all without leaving your site.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Follow the step-by-step setup here: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tipsandtricks-hq.com\/ecommerce\/wp-estore-paypal-commerce-platform-ppcp-checkout-configuration\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\"><strong>PayPal Commerce Platform (PPCP) Checkout Configuration<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If you&#8217;d rather use the older <strong>PayPal Classic\/Standard<\/strong> checkout, that&#8217;s perfectly fine too \u2014 but PayPal itself recommends the new Commerce Platform going forward, so PPCP is the better long-term choice.<\/p>\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"step-6-add-your-first-product\"><strong>Step 6. Add your first product<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n<p>Go to <strong>Add\/Edit Products<\/strong> and fill in:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Product name<\/strong> and <strong>price<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Digital Product Download URL<\/strong> \u2014 the actual URL of your file (e.g. <code>https:\/\/www.your-domain.com\/products\/ebooks\/awesome_ebook.zip<\/code>). <em>Don&#8217;t worry \u2014 buyers never see this URL. They receive an encrypted version after purchase.<\/em><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Click <strong>Submit<\/strong> to save the product.<\/p>\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"step-7-find-your-product-id\"><strong>Step 7. Find your Product ID<\/strong> <\/h3>\n\n\n<p>Go to <strong>Manage Products<\/strong> to see a list of everything you&#8217;ve added. Make note of the number in the <strong>ID<\/strong> column &#8211; you&#8217;ll need it for the next step.<\/p>\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"step-8-add-the-add-to-cart-button-to-a-page\"><strong>Step 8. Add the &#8220;Add to Cart&#8221; button to a page<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n<p class=\"has-background\" style=\"background-color:#dff2fe\"><strong>Note:<\/strong> You can also copy the shortcode directly from the individual product edit screen. When editing or saving a product, look at the top of the page for the <strong>&#8220;Shortcode for this Product&#8221;<\/strong> section.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Edit any WordPress page or post and paste in this shortcode where you want the button to appear (replace <code>1<\/code> with your actual Product ID from Step 7):<\/p>\n\n\n\n<pre class=\"wp-block-preformatted\">[wp_eStore_add_to_cart id=1]<\/pre>\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"step-9-add-the-shopping-cart\"><strong>Step 9. Add the shopping cart<\/strong> <\/h3>\n\n\n<p>Paste one of these shortcodes wherever you want the shopping cart to show up (typically on a dedicated checkout page, in a post, or via a sidebar widget):<\/p>\n\n\n\n<pre class=\"wp-block-preformatted\">[wp_eStore_cart_when_not_empty]<\/pre>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8211; shows the cart <strong>only when items have been added<\/strong> (great for posts and general pages).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<pre class=\"wp-block-preformatted\">[wp_eStore_cart]<\/pre>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8211; <strong>always<\/strong> shows the cart (great for a dedicated checkout page).<\/p>\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"step-10-test-before-going-live\"><strong>Step 10. Test before going live<\/strong> <\/h3>\n\n\n<p>Before announcing your store to the world, do a quick test purchase using PayPal&#8217;s sandbox or a small real transaction. This confirms the payment, the email receipt, and the download link all work correctly.
