Tips and Tricks HQ Support Portal › Forums › WP eStore Forum › Charge a user to access assigned category but make it viewable to all
Hello. This is my first time posting. Hopefully I am doing this right.
I want to charge a user a weekly or monthly fee to post their upcoming activities in a category that I have assigned to that person. I don’t want them to have write access without paying. The other thing that is puzzling me is how I would make this publicly viewable. In other words, I want site visitors to be able to view the information that the paid access users posted in their categories.
I already have it set up where the user can only post in their assigned category. Does this make sense? Is it even possible?
Everything I have read about this plug-in is pretty exciting. That is why I purchased it. I just figured that I would get it and learn as I go.
Thank you very much!
The type of site you are trying to create is not a standard membership type site. You are trying to create more of a *sharing* type site. The ideal software would be to use a software that lets you create a *sharing* type site. Even though a membership plugin will give you some of the functionality you are after but it won’t have all the bells and whistles that you need for your particular project.
With that said, you could create a paid membership level that automatically creates a corresponding WordPress user with a WordPress role of “Author” or “Editor”. eMember has a feature that will integrate with the WordPress users database:

This will allow this member to be able to create posts. When a post or page is published it can be viewed by anybody unless you apply protection to it (this is the default behavior). So anything that gets published on your site will be view-able by anyone. Only users who want to publish anything of their own will need to get an Author or Editor level WordPress account. They can get a WordPress user account by paying for a membership that you configure in eMember.
I knew I should have bought eMember with eStore! Hindsight is 20 / 20!
