Tips and Tricks HQ Support Portal › Forums › WP eStore Forum › PayPal – Does my site need an SSL certifcate if using PayPal as the gateway
I am trying to figure out if I will need an SSL on my site if only using a PayPal payment gateway and not collecting directly on the site. The information I have researched claimed that it depends on the type of PayPal I am using, i.e. PayPal EXPRESS. Does Estore use VeriSign G5 Root Trust Anchor? If so how can I make sure it is set up properly to secure the checkout process? Thanks,

An SSL certificate is not required, when using eStore; because payment method processing is done by the PayPal site.
An SSL certificate is only required, if you are using the optional Payment Gateways Bundle; which allows you to locally perform the payment method (collection) processing on your site.
