    Hi

I am using WP Simple Paypal Shopping cart version 2.2 and It is working very well selling in USD. I would like to add further buttons, either on the same page or a different page within the same domain, to accept payments in different currencies. I do not need the prices updating with the currency exchange rates I would be quite happy to set the prices myself and change them as required.

I am aware that Paypal converts the currancy and have made my buyers aware of this but I feel it puts people off when they see an item they want in a different currency from their own. If this is availiable as part of another package please point me towards that as I must have missed it, I see the WP estore package includes 'multiple currency support' but I imagine this means only one currency at a time.

    Thanks

Hi the only way you could do this is with the eStore and using the 'Buy Now' button option. With a shopping cart it can only support one currency at a time because you can't add items with different currency to the same cart (PayPal won't process this type of transaction). With the 'Buy Now' Button you can put something like this

    Product Name:
    Product Description:

    Graphic

USD Price $5.00 'Buy Now' Button
Yen Price $15.00 'Buy Now' Button
GBP Price $25.00 'Buy Now' Button

The only thing with the 'Buy Now' button is they would have to make each purchase individually .

Thanks very much for that Ivy, I will start having a look into the eStore right now.

Just one more quick question, you say items of different currencies cannot be added to the same cart, is it possible that the cart could accept different currencies but only one at a time? I.e. if I have 4 products advertised as you suggest above and someone want to buy product 1 in Yen and then also want to buy product 2 in Yen also (as we assume this is their local currency) could these two products be added to a cart to check out together or would both purchases have to be seperate transactions?

    Thanks for your help

Nope, there is no way to guarantee that the customer will click on the corresponding "Add to Cart" button for the same currency when you have two buttons for each product in different currency.

This is why it's done through "Buy Now" type buttons which is a single checkout per product (it eliminates the possibility of customer mixing things up in the cart).

I have intention to add an option so a secondary equivalent price for each product can be displayed next to the primary price (eg. USD $50 or AUD $55) but the cart will still have to process the transaction in the primary currency.

    He Amin,

I would love to have that option of posting an equivalent price for each product that can be displayed next to the primary price. I have a product to sell in USD and EUR.

    Greetings,
    Jonathan

Hi, You would need to use a Buy Now button for each product. Different currencies can not be added to the cart.

Hi, Is there any way to use the "Variation" control with a "Buy Now" button to allow the user to select from a drop down list their preferred currency??

I see your solution above to use multiple "Buy Now" buttons for each currency. Are you suggesting that those buttons be generated by PayPal? I only ask because I can see no way from within eStore to specify a currency for a specific product ID. I do see it in the "settings" for the default currency, but that will change all my product currencies and I don't want that.

If PayPal generates the currency-specific button will the other data I collect with eStore also be collected? Sales count and quantity available for example??

    Thanks!

When you edit or create a product scroll down to the "Buy Now or Subscription Type Button Specific Settings" section. Look for a field called "Currency Code" in there. Read the help text next to the field and it will explain what it does.

Sorry I missed that. It looks like what I was seeking...

And by the way, your customer service is by far the best I've ever encountered. Thanks!
