How to Integrate WP eMember with AWeber

The WP eMember membership plugin can be easily integrated with AWeber (Email marketing and Autoresponder service).

Step 1: Create an Email Parser

AWeber use email parsers in situations where you want subscribers to add to your list via an email from a third party, typically a payment processor, rather than the subscriber sending an email directly from their email program.

To add a new custom email parser select “Email Parser” from the “My Lists” menu and choose “Add New” from the “Custom Parsers” section.

  • My List -> Email Parser
  • Custom Parsers -> Add New

The new email parser configuration will look similar to the following (Click to enlarge)

New Email Parser

There are only two fields (Description and Trigger Rule) that need changing here.

  • Give a description for this parser, eg. eMember Parser
  • In the Trigger Rule field, replace the “user\@domain\.com” with the email address that you have specified in the “From Email Address” field in the eMember’s email settings menu (This step is also very important).
  • If you have multiple lists in your account then edit the parser you just created then check the “Enable parser for all lists in this account” checkbox and save it (This step is also very important). Enabling this option will not harm any of your other lists… all it does is that it activates this parser so it can filter signup request from eStore and assigns the contact to the correct list.

For example, the email address I have specified in my “From Email Address” field is “superadmin@tipsandtricks-hq.com so I need to replace:

user\@domain\.com

with

superadmin\@tipsandtricks-hq\.com

Below is a screenshot of my email parser (click to enlarge):

Adding an Email Parser is really simple but even a small error can throw everything off.

Step 2: Configure the WP eMember’s Autoresponder Settings

Now all you need to do is specify the AWeber list name that you want your customers to be signed up to and enable AWeber Signup.

I don’t have the aweber settings in the 3.4 version I use. I purchased it in December 2009. Do I need to purchase it again to get the new version with the aweber included or do you offer free upgrades?

I couldn’t find any information about it.

    Thanks,
    Daniel

When a member cancels their membership, are they automatically removed from the aweber list?

    Thanks.

    @Velma, Nope.

You do such fantastic work! Thank you

I understand that when a member cancels their subscription, it does not automatically remove them from aWeber – does the member stay in my DB, but with a different status (or something similar i.e. canceled) so that I can manage this or is their record deleted?

At least I would be able to pull up all cancellations since the last mailing.

Also, when a member MODIFIES their account (i.e. their email addr), does it modify their record in aWeber too? I am guessing no. This could get messy.

    Thank you….

The member still stays in the datbase but the status is set to “expired” this way the member can reactivate the account in the future.

AWeber does not let you change the email address once it’s subscribed. It’s their policy. The members will have to subscribe again with the new email address.

Hey what a fantastic suite of plugins. I have it all up and running. I am just attempting to integrate with aweber and I noticed they currently have 10 different membership solutions pre-listed (including memberwing). I just thought that it might be useful if you approached them to see if you could get eMember listed there. A suggestion only – as I said you have an absolutely excellent and highly useful set of plugins.
