The admin functions menu allows the admin to do various manual admin stuff from time to time like generating an encrypted download link for any product, sending email to any customer etc (for example when a customer accidentally deletes the email with the download link and you want to send him another link manually).
It is also very useful for generating download links for a product and testing the encrypted download system of your site.
If a customer missed the download link for whatever reason, you can always use this interface to generate a new link and send it to the customer.

@Hazel, Yes the settings for the expiry are taken from the general settings of the WP eStore.
I’ve recently set up my site using wp eStore and found it very good. It’s working well, thank you.
One question though, the encrypted download link that can be generated under ‘Admin Functions’ – where do you set up the duration and download limit? Is that determined by what’s entered under General Settings – Digital Product DeliverySettings? My product is an e-Book so I don’t have a shopping cart.

I am having an issue when trying to generate an encrypted download link for a downloadable product. I put in the product ID and when the link is clicked I get an error message that says, “Requested File Could Not Be Found”. What am I doing wrong?
You seem to have “Auto return” on in your PayPal profile. When auto return is on PayPal do not post the payment data back to the site and the cart do not clear. The plugin is designed to work with the default PayPal profile settings. This URL should explain more:

Not true. I’ve gone through paypal live twice and the cart is NOT clearing when returned to the website. Can you be specific about how this mechanism is supposed to work?

The cart automatically clears upon successful purchase confirmation. The cart doesn’t clear if the buyer do not go through.
Is there a way to clear the cart after purchase confirmation?

Joe, You can set the amount of time a link is active for. If you want it for 1 day then you can put 24 hours. If you want it for 2 days you put 48 hours. You can also put less time like 1-2 hours but some people do not check their email right away and this will lead to having to resend out link due to them expiring. 12-24 hours usually works well.

Can the encrypted download link have a expiration date? Say for example, the customer has 24 hours to download the item. This would prevent the link from being given out to others.
