Blog Commenting Strategy to Improve Search Engine Ranking

You are here: Home / Web Development / Blog Setup / Blog Commenting Strategy to Improve Search Engine Ranking

Last updated: September 3, 2012

A blog commenting strategy focuses on getting constant backlinks from other blogs and websites. This post is concentrated on giving you specific instructions and detailed strategies that you can instantly apply to your daily method in any given niche. You have to know from which sources and also HOW MANY backlinks you require to achieve HIGH rankings with a particular keyword. This is the very first point that a person has to know before he or she can even move on to building these highly targeted backlinks from other people’s websites.

How can you start with your own blog commenting strategy and from where and which sources can you get links fast? It is all about the search parameter you use to find niche targeted, relevant and trusted blogs in Google. Here are some sites where you can leave a comment. Make sure to look at the search strategy that is effective for both sites and keywords.

  • site:flickr.com “your keyword”
  • site:blogspot.com “your keyword”
  • site:hubpages.com “your keyword”
  • “powered by wordpress” your keyword

These are just four sites from which you can get immediate links within a few seconds or minutes. The first thing you have to write into Google’s search is the site, then your keyword or the niche you want to target. You can do this for any keyword in any area and you don’t have to limit yourself to sticking to just a few concepts.

How do you leave a comment on one of these sites? Simply scroll down to the end of each post or page, see if the admin allows readers and visitors to leave a personal comment. Not all of them will have the comment section enabled, but some will. Then you want to mix things up as often and as naturally and humanly possible. Link back to different pages of your blog and use different keywords in the “name” section. For instance, if your niche should be “English Courses”, you want to use “English Courses” in the name section to around 60%, maybe “Online English Courses” to 10 %, “Courses” to 10%, and the other 20% you can use names such as “Gerald”, “Peter”, “Marina” etc. You have to make it appear natural and this is why we want to use different keywords and pages for relevant blogs.

Now we’ve told you how you can develop your own blog commenting strategy, but how many of these links do you need to get on the first page of Google for a chosen website or keyword? It depends on your competition, how many backlinks your competitors have, and from which sites and sources. This is important. You can also add other strategies to your daily SEO practice. Blog commenting is just one of many different methods that you can use to enhance search engine rankings so use this technique together with other search engine optimization techniques to get a good result.

You will need to create a weekly backlinking plan that you will follow through for the next 4, 8, 12, 16 or even 30 weeks if your keywords are very competitive. You are your own boss and have to be consistent with blog commenting. This post was focused on giving you the information to develop your own plan with blog commenting strategy.

Another great strategy to find good posts is Google Alerts. You got to subscribe your keywords to Google Alerts. Everyday it will send you the list of blogs, websites that contained your keywords, all you gotta do is review the blogposts and comment on it. Simple!

    Great Article.

Good info. Rather then typing those search parameters directly into Google from your web browser, a better method is to use a software like Scrapebox that will give you a lot of information on the comment page like Page Rank, dofollow/nofollow, and the number of outbound links. One of the problems with blog commenting is locating your link in a comment that eventually gets pushed off the page due to that page being heavily commented on. I like to locate my comments on pages where there are less than 50 outbound links and all of the comments remain on the actual page with Page Rank.

Your post is a welcome departure from the multitudes of sites promoting “automated link building”. The basis of my SEO practice has always been to establish relationships, not automated spam messages. Blog commenting works best when it is performed by hand on relevant sites.

Make your site a resource. Search engines will judge your site based on how much of a resource they think it is to others. To make your site more of a resource, become an authority in your particular area. Thanks for sharing.

Strategy is important and the tactics outlined here are definitely effective as long as they are employed with authenticity and integrity. Wake up if your strategy includes this kind of intention: “You have to make it appear natural.”

Why focus on appearing natural? Is your true intention to spam a blog for your own gain? Or to have an authentic conversation with the blog author? Savvy readers can tell the difference. And blog owners can mark you as a spammer. Being authentic will work for you every time.

Matt from Google recently announced that nofollow link still pass page rank juice but the value is not the same as dofollow link.

  40. Gerald Gigerl says:
    April 3, 2011 at 4:15 pm

If you can vary your links so that they appear natural to Google you will improve your rankings quicker than just getting “follow” links. The more natural your link building, link variety and link sources are THE BETTER for your rankings.

  41. admin says:
    April 1, 2011 at 10:52 pm

Just wanted to add something 🙂

Nofollow doesn’t mean it won’t be followed at all. Google does follow a “nofollow” link… it just won’t pass the same amount of page rank juice like a dofollow link.

  42. Brad says:
    April 1, 2011 at 8:49 pm

Actually commenting on other blogs is good for seo as well as get some traffic too. The fact that most of them have the moderation will see to it that there is not much external spam links. But then there are less do follow blogs now. And most of them remove the links after some time.

  43. adam @ phone payment says:
    April 1, 2011 at 5:18 am

Yes it is important that the post allows comments which do not have the ‘no follow tag’ otherwise the ‘link juice is not passed. ‘

Your post touches upon a lot of great points, but ultimately I think the most important thing is that as writers we should always write for the reader and never for the search engines. If you write in a natural and authoritative way, the keywords and keyphrases will follow along by default, and you’ll be optimizing your content without overthinking it.
