Hi Jack, Nah, the lightbox ultimate plugin has too many lightbox options with different styles and stuff. Integrating it with eStore’s default fancy product display will be very messy (not worth the effort). Its best if you follow this principal:
https://www.tipsandtricks-hq.com/forum/topic/can-i-put-multiple-images-and-videos-in-the-fancy-display
I have two quick questions…
Can I use this as the default “lightbox” for WP eStore?
Can I set this so that it automatically works for images in posts?
Thanks,
Jack
I just have to say this…
I bought this literally 10 minutes ago and I have the videos (hosted on S3) already working using the “Lightbox Special” settings. It was super simple and it looks fantastic.
Great product!
Mike
@Marcus, There should be no problem with the thesis theme and shortcode filtering. By default, WordPress does not filter shortcode in template file. You will need to pass the shortcode via the “do_shortcode” function if you want to use it from a template file but it should work just fine.
Hello, I would like to have a .mp4 video in a lighbox for this website: http://cottageinmullion.co.uk using the obvious button in the header, the site is built on thesis and I’m not sure shortcodes will work in the thesis hook used to put the button in the header – can I use a ‘rel’ instead?
Thanks
Marcus
@Leon, I haven’t setup a demo with multiple images yet but there is a parameter in the shortcode that lets you group images (kind of like a gallery of images).
If you use the HTML5 compatible shortcode to embed your videos it will work on iPhone, iPad etc. Check out the HTML5 Video embed section from the demo page (you can view this page in your iPad to get a feeling for how it will look):
http://lightbox.tipsandtricks-hq.com/lightbox-ultimate-demo/
Do you have a demo with multiple images?
Any issues with display on the iPod, iPhone or iPad? We have some issues with “other” lightbox plugins popping up image(s) at the top of the page instead of the location of the users touch. This requires the user to scroll up to see the popup which is not good!

@Andrew, This is a WordPress plugin so it can only be used on a WordPress install (it won’t work on a stand alone HTML page if thats what you are after). Remember you can use custom page template to make WordPress page look like standalone HTML page:

Hi Melinda, The WP Ultimate LightBox is a multi site license so you can use this on as many stiles are you own and operate. =)
Is this restricted to use on one site only or can it be used on more than one site? I own three sites that I would like to use this on.
Thanks,
Is there any way to ‘call’ this plugin for use on pages outside of the WordPress directory?
@Andrew, we added a new shortcode just for embedding PDF file so it can show the PDF file in an overlay.
Fixed!
I just tested all of the different libraries until it worked.
The “Special” method worked best with our WP theme.
I also managed to insert a pdf instead of a video just by replacing the link to the video with a link to the pdf and removing the width and height parameters.
cheers
Andrew
Can the plugin be used to open text or a pdf in a lightbox? I just assumed that since it could do all types of video that it would be able to manage more basic forms of media.
We’re trying to get two light boxes side by side. One with the video and the other with detailed information about the video. We’d like to display the information without disrupting the flow of the page, hence the lightbox.
BTW are you guys Aussies?
Andrew (Sydney)
@Melissa, can you please post a link to the page where you have embedded the video so I can go and check it out.
Hi,
thanks for the plugin… seems great, but I can’t get it to work. When I click on the video thumbnail, it just redirects me to the video page itself… doesn’t pop up.
Pls help!
thanks!
best,
Melissa
Thanks,
I have to consider buying it… will have a look what the ultimate has for extra options.
thanks,Rob
Looks good. I think the autoplay option is only available in the WP Video Lightbox ultimate one (not the free one)
Hi “admin”,
I uploaded the video to Vimeo and that’s working great. See my website. I am using the free edition. Can I have a autoplay as well for video?
cheers,Rob
You can use the ?rel=0 at the end of the YouTube video URL and the plugin will play the video fine. For example, The following URL is valid:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I7YllAOqpF4?rel=0
Remember, YouTube is a free video sharing site so you will never be able to configure all aspects of the video to make it look like completely yours (otherwise how will Google Make money from the ads?). The plugin doesn’t control this. It simply shows the video in a Lightbox (the same thing that you would see by going directly to a YouTube video link). If you want to have more control over the video then use a premium site like “Vimeo” (I personally use them and I like their service). Let me know if that helps.
is that correct, by using Vimeo my related video “problem” is solved?
Well I am trying for youtube. On the moment I am setting up an account with Vimeo, I see (think) they don’t show anything at the end of the movie.
cheers,
Rob
What is this for? Youtube or Vimeo video?
I tried the plugin and its works fab! But how can I add the ?rel=0 I dont want the related video’s add the end of my movie.
I can’t get the code right.
cheers ,Rob
Hi Bruce, Under “WP Lightbox Settings” you can check the “Autoplay” checkbox and the plugin will autoplay the YouTube video.
I would like my youtube video to autoplay in the lightbox.
haven’t seen this addressed…how can I do it?
got it! thanks for listening – its working now!
okay, I think I am figuring it out. Still don’t see which of your boxes are the one you are showcasing on the demo page – linked from the image with Black background – is that a special code?
Thanks for your response. yes, i understand that vimeo can customize. The vimeo code is:
So I would use:
link=”http://player.vimeo.com/video/21378863?title=0&byline=0″ width=”533″ height=”300″ frameborder=”0″
or some portion of that? “http://player.vimeo.com/video/21378863?title=0&byline=0”
I don’t see how I can customize from vimeo to remove title with lightbox plug-in – the player doesn’t show when I include anything beyond the video url: http://player.vimeo.com/video/21378863
doesn’t seem to want to show the player if the title or by line info is included
@Coleen, What your viewers can see inside the video (example. byline, title etc) can be customized from your vimeo profile. So open up your video page in vimeo and click on the “Settings” button to go to it’s settings options. Then click on embedding tab and specify what you want to show for that video.
Now, the lightbox plugin also allows you to specify a title or description for the video that you can see outside the actual video area (you can control these from the shortcode). Let me know if that helps.
How do I get the vimeo video to display like the one in the demo you have – vimeo video demo – Example with Anchor Image (it comes up without the vimeo title or byline). Which box is that? And how do I get it to display without anything on top (no title or byline)?
Thank you. Appreciate your help.
Coleen
@Coleen, We have tested this on Safari 5 and all the vidoes show fine in Safari. The videos work cross browsers (we have tested it on Firefox, Chrome, Safari, Internet explorer, Opera) What version of Safari are you using? Do you have any particular addon that might be blocking javascript from running? That would cause the videos to not work.
I like the plug in – but noticed the video is not showing when using safari.
An example – on this page https://www.tipsandtricks-hq.com/wp-affiliate-link-manager/wp-lightbox-ultimate-demo-73
if I click on the youtube example – it works in Firefox and not in Safari.
So concerned about purchasing the plugin if it does not work across browsers.
Have you found this problem? Thank you for your response.
I haven’t tested it with iPhone yet but I have tested it with my iPad and they work fine (I am pretty sure it will work on iPhone too). The flash videos won’t work on iPad though because apple doesn’t support flash on iPhone or iPad.
Yes you can upload your videos to Amazon s3 and embed with this plugin.
Hi I’ve got 2 questions.
1. Could iPad and iPhone user view all videos with this plugin?
2. Could I embedded my video in Amazon S3 with this plugin?
Gre8t jobs!
The css files are stored in the “lib/css” folder (you can find the “lib” directory inside the lightbox ultimate plugin file.
I don’t find the wp-lightbox.css in the plugin folder.
Hi admin, the plugin works now, I found the problem but I have another question: How do I customize the design of WP Lightbox in the “special settings” ?
@Yoann, Please post a link to the page where you have embedded the video so I can check it out.
Hi, i made the exact same thing as you did in the video tutorial but it doesn’t work. When I click on the image it doesn’t start the lightbox but it sends me on youtube or vimeo…
thx in advance for your quick response.
@Peter, Yeah can use the shortcodes in your sidebar just like you use it in your posts or pages.
Hi admin, Thanks for the quick reply to my previous question, I got it working. Another question: can I add the shortcodes to my sidebar via a text widget to embed the YouTube video?
Thanks! this plugin is working very nicely for me. I have changed all my previous YouTube video embeds to the lightbox method and it looks so much better now.
@Peter, yeah you can simply use one of the PHP functions or call the shortcode via the do_shortcode function. For example, the following shortcode lets you embed a YouTube video:
[wp_lightbox_prettyPhoto_anchor_text_video link="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Nvkdi3e3"
width=800 height=450 text="anchor text goes here" description="video description goes here"]
You can simply use the following code in your theme’s template file to get the same effect as the above shortcode:
<?php echo do_shortcode('[wp_lightbox_prettyPhoto_anchor_text_video link="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Nvkdi3e3"
width=800 height=450 text="anchor text goes here" description="video description goes here"]'); ?>
Summary: You simply place the shortcode inside the “do_shortcode” function to use it from a theme’s template filee.
Let me know if that make sense.
Hi, Looks like a nice, neat plugin to embed YouTube videos. I have a quick question. Can I use this plugin to embed videos from my theme’s template file?
Hi, Really nice plugin! I couldn’t find any other better WordPress Plugin which has such features to display different videos.
Thanks for the plugin
Great plugin to display videos in a stylish and professional manner. Great Job
Nice! I am one of your original video lightbox plugin users and requested you to develop one with more options. Looks like this one can support many types of videos. I will check it out. I love to place videos using this lightbox technique on my sales page… it saves a lot of space and looks very professional.
Yeah this plugin should handle that fine. This page has an example with a FLV file embedded with the plugin:
https://www.tipsandtricks-hq.com/wp-affiliate-link-manager/wp-lightbox-ultimate-demo-73
Will the lightbox ultimate plugin be able to handle .flv video files? I couldn’t get the .flv files to work with the free video lightbox plugin one.
