Hi, this plugin looks very promising. I am interested to use it on one of my sites where I promote affiliates products.
can you please give an example of how a cloaked affiliate link will look like?
#2 by admin on July 18, 2010 - 3:16 am
The cloaked links will look similar to the following if I was using it on this site:
http://www.tipsandtricks-hq.com/prefix/name
“prefix” and “name” are text that you specify when creating the link. Say for example, I have an affiliate link for a product called “Awesome Beauty Product” and my affiliate link looks like the following:
http://www.example.com/?ref=mlcum&id=9088087
Now, I can configure a link that will look like the following when placed on my site (this is a cloaked version of the above affiliate link):
http://www.tipsandtricks-hq.com/goto/beauty

After I have created a few links that converts some keywords to my affiliate link on my site, is it reasonably easy to take the links out (converting it back to the simple text again)? I don’t want to manually do this.

Hi Jennifer, yeah you can easily reverse it simply by setting the status of the link to “deactive”. This way in the future you can activate it again without having to recreate the link.

Hi, can the plugin make the changes per post. For example let’s say I have different affiliate links for hosting and I would like to promote a different one in my posts, I would like every word “hosting” to be changed.
#8 by Ivy on July 20, 2010 - 12:06 am
@ Gabriel, The change would be site wide.

wow! this plugin looks awesome. I am getting tired of manually editing affiliate links…. didn’t know that there was a plugin for it

how is the cloaked link generated? Is it based on the URL of the page or post it appears on? I would love to be able to create cloaked affiliate links that look like http://www.DOMAIN.com/recommends/nameofproduct
would something like this be possible with this plugin?

yes the links will appear to be on your site. So if your domain name is the following:
http://www.example.com
then you will be able to cloak your affiliate links so it looks like the following:
http://www.example.com/recommends/nameofproduct

Hello Ruhul,
For some reason I can not add a new Link.
I have WP 3.0.1 and have had no problem with the installation.
I changed the settings.
and next is the Add new Link.
Just don’t get anything to happen.
Thanks for your great products

Hey Philip, so when you click the “Add New” link a new interface doesn’t popup? I have a feeling the JQuery in your admin side is a little bit stuffed. Are you using the OZH admin interface so something similar?
Can you do this quick test form me (only do the plugin section)?

Let me know how you go with that.

I notice on the video that the link manager has the option to track clicks. How does this happen? Is there a control panel of some kind that displays how many times a particluar link has been clicked?

Hi,
Again a wonderful plugin and I am just getting started with it but I see a lot of potential. I just signed up for YOUR affiliate program and was wondering where the code was located within the plugin files so that I can replace the text link on my website “Powered by WP Affiliate Platform” (located at the bottom right of each page) with MY Affiliate Code … the code that I was given when signing up for your (www.tipsandtricks-hq.com) program??
Please help and thanks

I really love the part that the links appear to be on your own page.
one question can you manually change the target of the links, if e.g. you want to link on word travel, but not always to the same target or is there a way to configure plugin so that it would dynamically do this, could i specify more the one target for same keyword?

If you mean that you want to change the a link in the post or page then the answer is no as the link is will be placed dynamically when the page renders. One keyword can be used for one target URL.
